BBSM Goes to School

BBSM Goes to School is an extension of the Beverly Burton School of Music, reaching children ages 3–10 worldwide and shaping their musical future. We believe that giving students a strong foundation in music before formal piano lessons increases commitment, deepens understanding, and significantly lowers the “drop-out” rate.

Our Pre-Beginners Curriculum is performance-based and emphasizes accompaniment, allowing young learners to play solo and collaborate with other instruments, such as violins. It’s easy to integrate into Pre-K, Kindergarten, day school, and homeschool programs, and is designed so that teachers and parents with no prior piano experience can confidently guide children through the Musical Mind book and resources.

Children develop a solid musical foundation, learning to play, perform, accompany, and collaborate, preparing them to one day master the piano with confidence and joy.

Our program leads with performance because it comes most naturally to children. Students begin by actively making music—playing, listening, and responding—before diving deeper into theory. Through solo playing and accompaniment with other instruments, such as violins, children build confidence, develop strong listening skills, and naturally absorb musical concepts.

This performance-first approach lays a strong foundation for music theory, technique, and long-term musical success, making learning both joyful and meaningful from the very beginning.
